The Federal Government has plans to introduce a green rating system for all residential properties in Australia. This means all vendors will be required to disclose information about the energy efficiency of their properties. The system is due to commence in May 2011.
The Federal Government Minister for the Environment announced on 19 February 2010 that the Green Loans Subsidy will be discontinued on 22 March 2010. Home sustainability assessments are still proceeding to help householders improve their green credentials.
Sustainable home improvements ideally reduce energy use, water consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. It’s time to consider green options particularly as the Federal Government is initiating a green-star rating for Australian homes to be implemented in 2011.
