About Chapel Hill

The church at the Crn of Moggill Road and Chapel Hill Road has been a landmark since 1875

Chapel Hill is a suburb that lies between the suburbs of Indooroopilly to the east and Kenmore to the west in Brisbane’s leafy western suburbs.

There is some debate about the origins of the suburb’s name. Was the suburb named after the chapel that was built on the hill at the corner of Moggill Road and Chapel Hill Road or was it named after a place called Chapel Hill in England? Perhaps a bit of both as the chapel on the hill in this Chapel Hill was a landmark for people travelling west along Moggill Road and perhaps some of the original settlers came from Chapel Hill in England.

Chapel Hill is located approximately 8 kilometres from Brisbane’s CBD. It is a bushland suburb which borders the native forests of the lower western slopes of Mount Coot-tha to the north.
